Davanzo, Ward Announce $2 Million in Economic Development Funding for Local Projects

July 17, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) and Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) today announced two economic development projects in the 58th Legislative District will receive a cumulative $2 million in grants approved through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

“These projects are community builders; translating to new opportunities for our young people, and ultimately, the growth of additional new businesses,” Davanzo said. “I’m glad to see these funds invested in the region and appreciated the opportunity to work with Sen. Ward to make it happen.”

In Mount Pleasant Township, Watt Fuel Cell Corp. is planning a facility expansion, anticipating growth in global demand for fuel cells and has orders through 2028. A $1 million grant will be used for the construction of manufacturing and office space, as well as the purchase of equipment.

A modernized asphalt plant will be built in nearby East Huntingdon Township, where a $1 million grant will be used for site preparation, utility improvements and production equipment installation. Additional improvements will include access roads, truck scales and stormwater management facilities.

“Community and economic development go hand-in-hand and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Rep. Davanzo to deliver for the people of Westmoreland County,” said Ward. “The funding announced for these projects is a significant win and will help further strengthen our local economy through job creation, advance our regional efforts to attract and grow businesses, while also improving the quality of life for our residents.”

RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act. They must have a multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
